The Union’s General Secretary, the Revd Dr Geraint Tudur, has announced his intention to retire in September 2018, when he’ll be 65 years old. Dr Tudur was elected to the post for the customary period of seven years in September 2006. He was relected to serve a second term at the 2013 Annual Meetings.
A native of Bangor, Dr Geraint Tudur spent 16 years as minister of Ebeneser Church, Cardiff, before moving in 1994 to the University of Wales, Bangor, to teach Church History. After 12 years there, he was elected to his current post. Geraint and his wife Carolyn are members of Tabernacle Independent Church, Porthaethwy (Menai Bridge).
Under his leadership, the Union of Welsh Independents has risen to the challenge of supporting churches and enabling them to announce the Gospel through contemporary means, in an age of religious decline.
