The way in which thousands of people are opening their homes to refugees is a sign that the spirit of the resurrected Christ is still active in the world today, said the Revd Beti-Wyn James, President of the Union of Welsh Independent Churches, on Easter Sunday.
On the other hand, she said, closing the door in the face of refugees by sending them to Rwanda would be completely contrary to the compassionate and loving spirit of Easter.
'Easter is a festival that offers us new hope. This appalling plan will dash refugees' hopes for a better and safer life. It also portrays the United Kingdom as a heartless and unwelcoming state.’
