A Welsh Christian Leader’s Christmas Message
As we watch in horror the continuing conflict in the land where Jesus walked, especially the slaughter of children and innocent civilians, it’s very easy to despair, said the Reverend Jeff Williams, President of the Union of Welsh Independent Churches. But we must believe that hope can shine from the very heart of suffering, he said in his Christmas message.
“There are countless forms of darkness in the world and in our personal lives. But it is darkness that makes the light of hope visible. In that hope we will flock to chapels and churches once again this Christmas in search of the eternal light of the incarnate God which can penetrate the world’s darkest places – the light which suffering, hatred and enmity can never extinguish.
“Two thousand years since Jesus’ birth, his message of hope, peace and reconciliation is still being proclaimed – and will be proclaimed in Wales and across the world until humanity finally recognises the futility of war and terror.”
